Advocates for equality and addresses discrimination against LGBTQIA+ individuals. The committee studies local conditions, raises awareness of LGBTQIA+ issues, provides support and resources, and collaborates with other committees and community partners on initiatives of shared interest to strengthen community impact.

At NAACP Beverly Hills/Hollywood we highlight our historical landmark presence and deep community connections to public figures, local leaders, residents and partners to advance meaningful social impact. We focus on unifying community elevating diverse voices and driving impactful change.

Martha Hamiter, Chair Theatre
focuses on promoting diverse, quality theatre that addresses Black issues and ensures representation, working to eliminate discrimination in the arts, secure minority ownership in media, and foster cultural understanding through events like the NAACP Theatre Awards which honor artists of color in Los Angeles and beyond, ensuring visibility for talent overlooked by mainstream awards.

Organizes at the state, branch, or prison branch level, focus on civil rights issues affecting women and children while supporting NAACP programs and membership. WIN enhances the leadership role of women, advocates for social, economic, political, educational, and health issues, promotes the well-being of children, and strengthens the mission and vision of the Association through civic and cultural activities.

The Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological, and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO): ACT-SO is a major youth initiative of the NAACP designed to inspire and encourage African-American students to strive for excellence in academics and the arts. The program provides community support while celebrating scholastic and cultural achievement with the same respect given to heroes. Each year, ACT-SO hosts competitions for high school students across the country, guided by the National Office and the National Director of the ACT-SO Program.

Advocates for fair treatment of military members, veterans, and their families within government programs and services. The committee studies local conditions, provides resources and information, assists with benefits, and addresses complaints of discrimination. It also serves as a hub of support for active-duty personnel, reserves, the National Guard, veterans, and their dependents while keeping the NAACP informed on issues affecting these communities.

Works to eliminate discrimination in schools and improve educational opportunities for minority students. The committee studies local conditions, reviews school policies and materials, and advocates for fair practices in areas such as zoning, testing, and teacher certification. It also promotes parental involvement, encourages school attendance, and serves as a resource for raising awareness about race and education while supporting the broader mission of the NAACP.

Is dedicated to promoting and protecting the well-being of African Americans and the wider community. The committee identifies local health needs, advocates for equal access to education, care, and treatment, and organizes activities such as forums, fairs, and workshops that address issues impacting people of color. It also supports national NAACP health initiatives to ensure healthier communities for all.

Organizes fundraising events, entertainment, and special projects that support both local and national NAACP programs. Working closely with the Finance Committee, it ensures resources are raised to sustain the mission and ongoing initiatives of the Association.

Works to increase voter registration and participation while advocating for fair laws that advance the educational, political, and economic opportunities of minority communities. The committee monitors proposed legislation, fights against discriminatory laws, and pushes for equal justice and enforcement. Remaining nonpartisan, it does not endorse political candidates but focuses on empowering communities through civic engagement and legislative advocacy.
